Foster Care Orientation
Bill Wilson Center invites anyone who is interested in learning more about becoming a foster parent to either a one-on-one or group orientation. Attending an orientation is required before you can submit a formal application. The application is provided at this meeting. Areas covered in orientation include:
- An overview of the child welfare system in California as kids in need of foster care and available for adoption come from the child welfare system.
- Descriptions of the children commonly in need of families.
- An overview of our agency and a review of legal requirements and applications.
- Description of the types of foster homes needed and the wide array of services and supports given to the foster families, the youth and the youth’s families.
- Hear from a current foster parent as to their experiences of being a Foster Parent and working with Bill Wilson Center's support team.
