Bill Wilson Center hosts ceremony to honor loved ones who have passed during the holidays

Santa Clara, CA – For many, the holidays are a joyous time of year filled with family, friends and laughter. For many others, the holidays are a painful reminder of the loss they feel after a loved one has passed.

On Wednesday, December 8, 2010 from 6:00-8:00pm, Bill Wilson Center’s Centre for Living with Dying will be hosting its 25th Annual Light of Lights Ceremony. The Centre invites all community members to come together at the San Jose Fire Department Training Center located at 255 S. Montgomery Street in San Jose to celebrate the memories of those we have lost and pay special honor to the first responders who serve our community on a daily basis.

At holiday time, individuals who are dealing with loss are often caught in a dilemma between the need to grieve and the pressure to get into the spirit of the season. Lighting a candle for a lost loved one symbolizes that the love we carry within our hearts never dies. Remember the ones you loved and lost, and rekindle their spirit by lighting a tribute candle. Guests are also invited to be a part of the roll calling ceremony, where they have the opportunity to stand up, light a candle and personally call out the name of a loved one who has passed away.

While it is never easy saying goodbye, grieving can offer great solace and begin one’s journey towards healing. This year the San Jose Fire Department is partnering with Bill Wilson Center by providing the site for The Light of Lights Candle Lighting Ceremony.

To RSVP please contact Janet Childs at the Centre for Living with Dying at (408) 278-2512 or jchilds@billwilsoncenter.org.
