Bill Wilson Center Adopt-A-Family Holiday Giving Program is looking for donors!
Posted on 09/29/2010
The annual Bill Wilson Center Adopt-A-Family Holiday Giving Program helps to make the holiday season a joyful one for children in the Santa Clara County foster care system. For many years this annual program has linked community donors with children who would otherwise receive few, if any gifts for the holidays.
The Adopt-A-Family Holiday Giving Program works directly with the Santa Clara County Department of Family and Children’s Services. Social workers select the neediest children for this program and create profiles for each child providing age, gender, sizes for clothing and shoes, interests, needs and wants. These children have been removed from their families due to abuse or neglect; our goal is to simply provide a bit of extra joy during the holiday season.
This program is open to anyone who is interested in participating. Past donors include law firms, high tech companies, elementary and middle school classes, rotary clubs, bunko groups and families in the community. Donors are asked to commit ASAP.
Guidelines Are Simple
We ask that donors spend approximately $100-200 and provide a maximum of three gifts per child. We created these criteria to ensure that gifts are comparable in value so each child feels equally cared for. If you are interested in contributing more than is outlined above, we ask you to consider adopting multiple children.
We understand that not everyone can afford to donate the requested amount - rest assured that other options are available! We welcome general donations of new toys, games, gift cards, etc. We are also able to accept monetary donations of any amount, which will be used to shop for children who may join the program late or who we have not been able to match with a specific donor.
* Your donation is tax deductible and a Bill Wilson Center donation form is included with the Adopt-A-Family Donor Information Packet.
