What is Critical Incident Stress (CIS)?
Critical Incident Stress is a physical and/or psychological response to events that provoke unusually strong emotions. Your response to such events or to a long term series of events may be very distressing if you do not understand that such reactions are normal. Regardless of your personality or training, ALL emergency responders are susceptible to Critical Incident Stress.

Who should attend?
This training will benefit first responders, professional caregivers, supervisors and managers, police, fire, paramedic, dispatch, hospital and social services personnel.

What does the training cover?

  • Review the dynamics of Crisis Incident Stress as an occupational hazard
  • Compare and refine CIS debriefing techniques with other teams
  • Develop coping skills to identify CIS in yourself and your co-workers
  • Learn skills in team morale development, training, and practice tools for debriefing the debriefers
Credits & Certification
All courses qualify for Nursing Continuing Education Credits (CEUs); most courses are POST certified. Paramedic/EMT Continuing Education Units and BBS Certification for therapists/social workers are also available.
